His Majesty's 45th Regiment of foot, grenadier company at the Siege of Quebec, 1759. This unit would later be formed into a special assault battalion after the fall of Louisbourg in 1758; along with grenadier companies of the 22nd and 40th regiments would become known as the 'Louisbourg Grenadiers'. They took part in the great Siege of Quebec, 1759 fighting under General Wolfe at such places as the assault on Beauport and the Plains of Abraham. The scene shows a private standing on the ridge opposite the falls near the camp of General Wolfe. In the center background, French and Canadian regulars can be seen forming up in their entrenchments near Beauport. Off in the distance the Royal Navy as well as English batteries on the opposite bank shell the City of Quebec.

note: I had to take special topographical liberties with depicting this scene as I wanted the Falls of Montmorency as well as the city of Quebec to both be in view. The ridge opposite the falls that the character is standing does not offer this vantage in real life. The uniform is as close as I could depict it based on limited resources of this particular regiment, so there are naturally going to be some flaws.
